Ordering custom textiles can feel daunting when a few missing inches ruin a drape or fold. Rest assured: every order is reviewed by an artisan before production, and if your measurements look unusual, we will contact you before cutting a single thread.
When taking measurements, always use a firm metal tape measure rather than a flexible tailor’s ribbon.
To determine the ideal size for custom duvet covers, flat sheets, and bedspreads:
Width & Length: Measure the top surface of the mattress from edge to edge (W×L).
Mattress Depth (D): Measure straight down from the top edge to the bottom surface, including any mattress topper or featherbed.
Calculating Drop:
Flat Sheets: Add at least 40 cm (16 in) to each side and the foot for a secure tuck under the mattress.
Duvets & Coverlets: For a classic overhang, add your mattress depth plus 20 cm–30 cm (8 in–12 in) to both the left and right sides.
Tip: Standard dimensions vary widely between European, US, and UK sizes. Always measure the mattress itself rather than relying on labeled sizes like "King" or "Super King."
A properly tailored tablecloth depends on the drop—the length of fabric hanging past the tabletop.
Table Dimensions: Measure the exact length and width (L×W) of rectangular/square tables, or the diameter (D) of round tables.
Choosing the Drop:
Casual/Daily Dining: 25 cm–30 cm (10 in–12 in) drop per side (just above the diner's lap).
Formal/Evening Dining: 38 cm–50 cm (15 in–20 in) drop per side.
Floor-Length / Gala: Full drop to 1 cm (0.5 in) above the floor.
Formula:
For custom drapery, precise drop and fullness determine the final sweep.
Width: Measure the width of your curtain rod or track, not the window frame itself.
Fullness: For soft, rich folds, multiply the total rod length by 2× (for classic gathering) or 2.5× (for sheer linens).
Length / Drop: Measure from the top of the track or ring eyelet to your desired end point:
Sill Length: Ending 1.25 cm (0.5 in) above the window sill.
Floor Length: Ending 1.25 cm (0.5 in) above the floor.
Puddling: Add 5 cm–15 cm (2 in–6 in) to the floor-length measurement for an elegant pool of fabric.
We source only single-origin, natural fibers woven in historical Tuscan and Lombard mills. Understanding how each weave behaves ensures your selection matches your tactile preference and lifestyle.
Custom work should bring anticipation, not anxiety. Here is an honest timeline of how your linens move through our Florence atelier.
Order Review & Verification (Days 1–2)
Every custom order is manually verified by an artisan master.
If a measurement, monogram placement, or seam request appears off-standard, we reach out to you directly before cutting.
Fabric Preparation & Cutting (Week 1)
Fabrics are unrolled, inspected under dedicated lighting for flawlessness, and allowed to rest.
Pattern pieces are hand-cut according to your bespoke specs.
Tailoring & Finishing (Weeks 2–4)
Precision stitching, hand-turned mitered corners, and custom hemstitching or monogramming are completed in our workshop.
Washing & Quality Inspection (Week 5)
Finished pieces undergo hand-inspection for measurement accuracy down to the millimeter and flawless finishing.
Pressing, Packaging & Dispatch (Weeks 6–8)
Items are hand-ironed, wrapped in breathable protective tissue, boxed, and dispatched with fully tracked express shipping.
Our Delivery Commitment: Our official lead time is 6 to 8 weeks, though we often deliver sooner. Because true bespoke tailoring requires uncompromising care, we never rush the cut or the finish. If you have an urgent deadline (such as a house opening or event), notify us prior to ordering so we can confirm timeline availability.
Natural luxury textiles do not require complicated care—they simply require gentleness. Treated properly, pure linen and long-staple cotton will last for generations.
Temperature: Wash in warm water—never exceeding 40∘C (104∘F) for colored linens or 60∘C (140∘F) for pure whites.
Detergent: Use a mild liquid detergent free of optical brighteners, bleaching agents, or enzymes. Avoid powder detergents, which can abrade natural fibers.
Load Size: Never overcrowd the washing machine drum. Linens need space to circulate freely to prevent stress on seams.
Fabric Softener: Skip commercial fabric softeners entirely; they coat natural fibers in silicone, reducing breathability and bath towel absorbency. Pure water and time are all natural linen needs to soften.
Line Drying (Preferred): Hang items outdoors or on a drying rack away from direct, harsh sunlight to maintain fiber integrity.
Machine Drying: Tumble dry on gentle, low heat (15 min–20 min) to soften fibers, then remove while still slightly damp to line-dry the remainder. Never dry on high heat.
Linen: Iron while the fabric is noticeably damp, using a high-heat steam setting. For relaxed linen, skip ironing altogether and smooth by hand while damp.
Percale & Piquet: Iron on medium-high heat on the reverse side of hemstitching or monograms to preserve relief detail.
Store linens in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space. Wrap items in breathable cotton bags or tissue paper. Avoid plastic storage boxes or vinyl bags, which trap moisture and cause yellowing.
Nestled along the banks of the Arno in Florence, our physical atelier remains the heart of everything we create. Long before custom linens were ordered across digital screens, they were measured, cut, and stitched by hand under the high windows of Florentine workshops.
While many brands apply the label Made in Italy to items merely finished or packaged on Italian soil, every piece we create is born here. From single-origin long-staple yarns woven in historical regional mills to the final hand-turned mitered corner executed at our Florentine cutting tables, our process honors centuries of Italian textile tradition.
Our atelier is more than an address—it is our proof of craft. It is where master seamstresses review every custom order blueprint, where threads are color-matched by eye under natural light, and where every border, hem, and monogram is finished with patient precision.
When you order custom linens from us, you are not ordering from a distant warehouse. You are commissioning a dedicated piece of Florentine craftsmanship, tailored specifically for your home.
