The Joyous Art of Cardon Le Barbier
Cardon Le Barbier is a French painter whose work explores the interplay between nature, gesture, and abstraction. Rooted in his rural upbringing and influenced by Abstract Expressionism, his practice harnesses natural forces—rain, wind, plants, smoke, and fire—to create raw, textural compositions that embody movement and spontaneity. Drawing inspiration from calligraphy and geography, Le Barbier’s lines and colour fields evoke forgotten languages and shifting, imaginary maps. After years spent in South America, the United States, and the United Kingdom, he now lives and works in France.
