Sizing
Care
• Pre-treat any stained areas before washing.
• Normal warm water washing cycle with mild detergent. We recommend Le Blanc.
• Wash one load with pillows and shams and a separate load for bottom and flat sheet.
• Duvet covers should be washed separately in their own load.
• Use the delicate cycle with cold water and mild detergent for silk pillowcases.
• Most damage occurs in the dryer vs. the washer. Therefore, we recommend line/air drying, low tumble dry. It is best if items are removed before completely dry to hang to finish. Delicates such as wool, cashmere and silk should never go in the dryer. Wools should be laid flat to dry in shape — do not hang. Lay silk flat or hang to dry. Do not hang silk in direct sunlight while drying.
• We do not recommend using fabric softener products with any Julia B. items. Cotton and linen soften with use and will retain its natural beauty.
• Always fill your iron with distilled water so that calcium build-up is avoided in your iron. Ironing is easiest and gentlest on fabrics when the item is damp. You can use a spray bottle filled with lavender water or simple distilled water to dampen your linens right before you iron. Silk and rayon/polyester should be ironed on low heat. Ironing these fabrics inside out is always a good idea. When ironing monograms or other detailed embroidery, iron from the back side and on top of a towel. This ensures that the relief of the embroidery is not flattened.
• Julia B. products do not really need starch. If you do use starch, use a natural cornstarch-based starch. Starch is for cotton and linen only. Never starch silk.
• Fabrics should always be stored clean (washed) in a dry place. Do not store in plastic; cotton bags and/or acid-free paper are best to avoid insects and deterioration. Also, never store cotton and linen that has been starched, as this causes yellowing.
